Since 1980 Hortencio have been researching the cave paintings from many sites around the world. He has visited the caves of Lascaux, in France, the Altamira caves in Spain and the sites in Serra da Capivara in Piaui, Brazil.

Hortencio has an extensive library on this subject which he has studied and admired for its beauty. He has developed an unique technique to reproduce these works of art as well as the texture of the rocks and the wide spectrum of colors produced by the lichens formed with time.
