Biography
Hortencio Vieira was born in August, 1927 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has studied Drawing, Etching, Oil and Pastel Painting with several artists in Brazil and in the USA.
Hortencio has several of his paintings and printmaking in the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo and with art collectors from Brazil, USA, and Japan.

- Oil Painting with David A. Lefell, in the Students League of New York, NY
- Oil and Pastel Painting with Daniel Green in Alburquerque, NM
- Oil Painting and Pastel Painting with Albert Handell in Santa Fe, NM.
- Non-Toxic Intaglio Printmaking with Keith Howard in Santa Fe, NM.
Attending art collectors requests he has also painted several reproductions of artists such as Dali, Dario Mecatti, J.C. Quilici and others. Some of this work is displayed in this website.
From 1970 to 2000, Hortencio traveled to several countries in Europe where he had the opportunity to visit the Caves of Lacaux, in France and Altamira in Spain.
After this period he started to paint several panels of this primitive art to which he has developed a special technique that accurately reproduces the rock’s textures and colors.
